Authentic Wooden Nandi Mask – India

A special wooden Nandi mask from India, with a powerful presence and beautiful, characterful woodcarving.

The long, dark horns, the expressive eyes, and the gracefully carved patterns make this mask an impressive decorative object. The weathered nuances of greyed wood, black, and warm reddish-brown give the whole an authentic, lived-in appearance.

The meaning of Nandi

Within Hinduism, Nandi is the sacred bull of Shiva, one of the most important gods in the Indian religious tradition. Nandi is considered the faithful companion, protector, and mount of Shiva.

He symbolizes strength, loyalty, patience, protection, and spiritual devotion.

At many Shiva temples in India, there is a statue of Nandi, usually with his gaze directed towards the sanctuary. There, he represents reverence, steadfastness, and connection with the divine.

This special wooden mask refers to this rich Indian tradition.

A unique object with character

The mask is richly adorned with carved ornaments and geometric decorations. The hollow back and the weathered paintwork give the object an extra special character.

Beautiful as a standalone decorative object on an old wooden sideboard, in an open cabinet, or combined with other authentic finds.

A unique addition to a rustic, Belgian minimalist, or wabi-sabi interior.
