HOFFZ Old Indian Earthenware Pot with Water Reservoir – Hoffz

Old Indian Earthenware Pot with Water Reservoir – Hoffz

This old Indian earthenware pot from the HOFFZ collection stands out due to its distinctive shape and weathered appearance. The wide bowl rests on a flared base and has a sturdy handle on the side. Inside, there is a raised central section surrounded by various openings: a striking construction that gives this object its own character.

The unglazed earthenware features dark brown tones, lighter nuances, and a weathered surface. Minor damage, wear marks, and irregularities are part of the appearance of this old pot. Subtle impressed decorations are visible around the base and the bowl.

A unique object as a home accessory

This pot has been described to us as a utensil with a water reservoir, in which cold water was used to keep something cool. The precise original use has not been established. Nowadays, the distinctive shape looks particularly beautiful as a decorative object.

With its dimensions of approximately 33 × 29 × H20 cm, the pot is a characterful eye-catcher on a side table, dresser, or open wall shelf. Thanks to the raised base, it also looks beautiful placed among lower bowls and pots.

Rugged and understated in a country interior

The earthy colors and rough surface combine beautifully with a lime wall, old wood, and natural linen. Place the pot individually to emphasize the shape, or combine it with a wooden bowl and a simple lantern. This earthenware object also fits well in a wabi-sabi interior, where natural materials and irregular shapes take center stage.
