Unique Nepalese clay jug with reed base

Special old Nepalese jar with a unique square shape. These jars were traditionally made from a woven reed base , which was then finished with a thick layer of loam/clay . This resulted in a sturdy and insulating storage jar that was formerly used for storing grain, butter, or other foodstuffs.

Through use and time, the jug has acquired a beautiful, weathered patina . In some places, the clay has partially disappeared, revealing the original wickerwork , which gives the object a unique character.

The robust shape and natural materials make this jug a real eye-catcher in a rugged, minimalist, or wabi-sabi interior . Beautiful as a decorative object on a table, cabinet, or in an open shelving unit, perhaps with a few branches or a simple flower inside.
