Product description
Antique Camel Headband – Afghanistan / Turkmenistan
Photo 1 is an example for decorating.
Unique antique textile piece, originally used as a headband for a camel ( Kamel-Kopfbinde ).
Handwoven from handspun wool and dyed with natural pigments in warm shades of red, brown, black, and cream, the geometric patterns and intricately knotted tassels reflect the symbolism of the nomadic tribes of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
These ribbons served as ceremonial decorations during weddings and caravans, where camels were festively adorned with colorful weaving, beads, and fringe. Over time, the textile has acquired a beautiful, weathered patina—with original wear, faded colors, and the rare German archive label with a barcode and the "Kamel-Kopfbinde" designation of origin .
An authentic collectible that exudes the warmth of craftsmanship and history. Beautiful as a decorative accent on a wooden ladder, cabinet, or wall hook in a simple, wabi-sabi, or ethnic interior.
Remark :
The barcode indicates an archival item or museum inventory, possibly from a German collection (hence “Provenienz” and the German label).
